My trip to Yazd (1)

Well, I would like to share my experience of another relaxing trip to our beautiful Iran with you. In fact, I had the most pleasurable time in the beautiful city of Yazd where I paid a visit to some weeks ago. The most interesting thing that strikes you is the flatness of the city and the shining sun, no matter which direction you gaze at you can see the earth meeting the shining sun in horizon; the absence of high buildings has also added to this amazement.

As dry as it is, it still has its own beauties, spectacular gardens which are designed in an special way pretty unique to deserts, in fact, the slightest amount of water is precious and valuable enough to have created a nice and pleasant environment to release the tiredness of a full working day and enjoy a family get -together.

Another thing that is quite unique not just to Yazd, to Iran also, is Badgir, an Iranian term for wind tower, is a tall chimney-like structure which projects above the roof of a building to expel warm air in the day and trap cooler air. so when the sun is scorching out there, each house welcomes you with a refreshing coolness. No need what so ever to coolers and air conditioners resulting in a considerable cut down in energy use and being environmentally friendly.

As you may know, the city of Yazd is the birth place for Zoroastrian religion; the first religion in the world that advocated the idea of monotheism. So you can imagine the best and most wonderful fire temples should be deservedly found in Yazd.

I will come back soon with more photos and second posting on Yazd meanwhile looking forward to your comments
